The Significance of the Bilva Tree
बिल्ववृक्ष हिंदू धर्म में अत्यंत पवित्र माना गया है और इसके कई आध्यात्मिक और औषधीय लाभ बताए गए हैं:
The Bilva tree is considered extremely sacred in Hinduism, and many spiritual and medicinal benefits are attributed to it:
- साँपों से बचाव: बिल्ववृक्ष के आस-पास साँप नहीं आते।
Protection from Snakes: Snakes do not come near the Bilva tree.
- मोक्ष की प्राप्ति: यदि किसी की शव यात्रा बिल्ववृक्ष की छाया से होकर गुजरे, तो उसे मोक्ष मिलता है।
Attainment of Salvation (Moksha): If someone’s funeral procession passes through the shade of a Bilva tree, they attain salvation.
- वातावरण की शुद्धि: वायुमंडल में व्याप्त अशुद्धियों को सोखने की क्षमता बिल्ववृक्ष में सर्वाधिक होती है।
Environmental Purification: The Bilva tree has the highest capacity to absorb impurities present in the atmosphere.
- परम सौभाग्य: चार, पाँच, छः या सात पत्तों वाला बिल्व पत्र प्राप्त करना अत्यंत सौभाग्यशाली माना जाता है और इसे भगवान शिव को अर्पित करने से अनंत गुना फल मिलता है।
Supreme Fortune: Obtaining a Bilva leaf with four, five, six, or seven leaflets is considered extremely fortunate, and offering it to Lord Shiva yields infinite rewards.
- वंश वृद्धि और विनाश: बेल वृक्ष को काटने से वंश का नाश होता है, जबकि इसे लगाने से वंश की वृद्धि होती है।
Progeny Growth and Destruction: Cutting down a Bilva tree leads to the destruction of one’s lineage, while planting it leads to the growth of the lineage.
- पापों का नाश: सुबह-शाम बेलवृक्ष के दर्शन मात्र से पापों का नाश होता है।
Destruction of Sins: Merely seeing the Bilva tree in the morning and evening destroys sins.
- पितरों की तृप्ति: बेल वृक्ष को सींचने से पितर तृप्त होते हैं।
Ancestral Gratification: Watering the Bilva tree appeases ancestors.
- अटूट लक्ष्मी: बेल वृक्ष और सफेद आक को जोड़े में लगाने से अटूट लक्ष्मी की प्राप्ति होती है।
Unwavering Wealth: Planting the Bilva tree and white aak (Calotropis gigantea) together brings inexhaustible wealth (Lakshmi).
- पापों से मुक्ति: जीवन में केवल एक बार, यदि भूल से भी शिवलिंग पर बेल पत्र चढ़ा दिया जाए, तो जीव सभी पापों से मुक्त हो जाते हैं।
Liberation from Sins: If one offers a Bilva leaf to a Shivling even once in their life, even by mistake, all their sins are absolved.
- महादेव से साक्षात्कार: बेल वृक्ष का रोपण, पोषण और संवर्धन करने से महादेव से साक्षात्कार का अवश्य लाभ मिलता है।
Encounter with Mahadev: Planting, nourishing, and conserving the Bilva tree certainly provides the benefit of encountering Lord Mahadev.
कृपया बिल्व पत्र का पेड़ अवश्य लगाएँ। बिल्व पत्र के लिए पेड़ को क्षति न पहुँचाएँ।

Important Points to Note in Shiva Puja
शिव पुराण के अनुसार, भगवान शिव को विभिन्न चीजें अर्पित करने से अलग-अलग फल प्राप्त होते हैं। किसी भी देवी-देवता का पूजन करते समय उन्हें अनेक वस्तुएँ अर्पित की जाती हैं, और हर वस्तु का अपना विशेष महत्व होता है।
According to the Shiva Purana, offering different items to Lord Shiva yields different results. When worshipping any deity, various items are offered, and each item has its own special significance.
भगवान शिव को अन्न चढ़ाने का फल:
Benefits of Offering Grains to Lord Shiva:
- चावल: भगवान शिव को चावल चढ़ाने से धन की प्राप्ति होती है।
Rice: Offering rice to Lord Shiva leads to the attainment of wealth.
- तिल: तिल चढ़ाने से पापों का नाश होता है।
Sesame Seeds: Offering sesame seeds destroys sins.
- जौ: जौ अर्पित करने से सुख में वृद्धि होती है।
Barley: Offering barley increases happiness.
- गेहूं: गेहूं चढ़ाने से संतान वृद्धि होती है।
Wheat: Offering wheat increases progeny.
ये सभी अन्न भगवान को अर्पण करने के बाद गरीबों में वितरित कर देने चाहिए।
All these grains, after being offered to the Lord, should be distributed among the poor.
भगवान शिव को विभिन्न द्रव्यों (रस) से अभिषेक करने का फल:
Benefits of Abhishekam (Ritual Bath) with Various Liquids (Juices) to Lord Shiva:
- जलधारा: बुखार होने पर भगवान शिव को जलधारा चढ़ाने से शीघ्र लाभ मिलता है। सुख व संतान की वृद्धि के लिए भी जलधारा द्वारा शिव की पूजा उत्तम बताई गई है।
Stream of Water: When suffering from fever, offering a continuous stream of water to Lord Shiva brings quick relief. Worshiping Shiva with a stream of water is also considered excellent for increasing happiness and progeny.
- शुद्ध घी: नपुंसक व्यक्ति यदि शुद्ध घी से भगवान शिव का अभिषेक करे, ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराए तथा सोमवार का व्रत करे, तो उसकी समस्या का निदान संभव है।
Pure Ghee: If an impotent person performs Abhishekam of Lord Shiva with pure ghee, feeds Brahmins, and observes a Monday fast, their problem can be resolved.
- शक्कर मिश्रित दूध: तेज दिमाग के लिए शक्कर मिश्रित दूध भगवान शिव को चढ़ाएँ।
Milk Mixed with Sugar: Offer milk mixed with sugar to Lord Shiva for a sharp mind.
- सुगंधित तेल: सुगंधित तेल से भगवान शिव का अभिषेक करने पर समृद्धि में वृद्धि होती है।
Fragrant Oil: Performing Abhishekam of Lord Shiva with fragrant oil increases prosperity.
- गन्ने का रस: शिवलिंग पर गन्ने का रस चढ़ाया जाए, तो सभी आनंदों की प्राप्ति होती है।
Sugarcane Juice: If sugarcane juice is offered to the Shivling, all kinds of joys are attained.
- गंगाजल: शिव को गंगाजल चढ़ाने से भोग व मोक्ष दोनों की प्राप्ति होती है।
Ganga Jal (Holy Ganges Water): Offering Ganga Jal to Shiva leads to the attainment of both worldly pleasures and liberation (Moksha).
- शहद: शहद से भगवान शिव का अभिषेक करने से राजयक्ष्मा (टीबी) रोग में आराम मिलता है।
Honey: Performing Abhishekam of Lord Shiva with honey provides relief from Rajyakshma (Tuberculosis).

- लाल व सफेद आंकड़े के फूल: इन फूलों से भगवान शिव का पूजन करने पर भोग व मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है।
Red and White Aak (Calotropis gigantea) Flowers: Worshipping Lord Shiva with these flowers brings both worldly pleasures and liberation.
- चमेली के फूल: चमेली के फूल से पूजन करने पर वाहन सुख मिलता है।
Jasmine Flowers: Worshipping with jasmine flowers brings the pleasure of owning vehicles.
- अलसी के फूल: अलसी के फूलों से शिव का पूजन करने से मनुष्य भगवान विष्णु को प्रिय होता है।
Flax Flowers: Worshipping Shiva with flax flowers makes a person dear to Lord Vishnu.
- शमी पत्र (पत्ते): शमी पत्रों से पूजन करने पर मोक्ष प्राप्त होता है।
Shami Leaves: Worshipping with Shami leaves leads to the attainment of liberation.
- बेला के फूल: बेला के फूल से पूजन करने पर सुंदर व सुशील पत्नी मिलती है।
Bela (Jasmine) Flowers: Worshipping with Bela flowers brings a beautiful and virtuous wife.
- जूही के फूल: जूही के फूल से शिव का पूजन करने पर घर में कभी अन्न की कमी नहीं होती।
Juhi Flowers: Worshipping Shiva with Juhi flowers ensures that there is never a shortage of food in the house.
- कनेर के फूल: कनेर के फूलों से शिव पूजन करने से नए वस्त्र मिलते हैं।
Kaner (Oleander) Flowers: Worshipping Shiva with Kaner flowers brings new clothes.
- हरसिंगार के फूल: हरसिंगार के फूलों से पूजन करने पर सुख-सम्पत्ति में वृद्धि होती है।
