Origin of Mars
According to scriptures, Mars (Mangal) is considered an aspect of Lord Shiva and the son of Earth. Its origin is believed to be in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Due to its red color, similar to vermilion, Lord Ganesha is offered sindoor, and thus he is also known as Mangalnath or Mangalmurti.
Mars received its planetary status through Lord Ganesha’s blessing on a Tuesday, making the day especially auspicious for worship of Ganesha and Goddess Mahakali.
Nature of Mars
Mars influences blood, bone marrow, courage, and physical vitality. Manglik individuals tend to be dynamic, strong-willed, but sometimes impatient or irritable.
Being Manglik is not a defect—it is a specific astrological alignment that grants unique strengths.
Definition of Manglik Yog
Manglik Yog arises when Mars occupies the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th house in the birth chart.
If Mars is accompanied by Saturn, Sun, or Rahu, the native becomes “double Manglik”—known as Goliya Mangal in males and Chunri Mangal in females.
Effects of Manglik Yog
- Delay or obstacles in marriage
- Mismatched or problematic relationships
- Conflicts, stress, or financial/mental issues after marriage
- In severe cases, separations or major disturbances
Solution: Marrying another Manglik neutralizes the yog effectively.
Positive Traits of Manglik Individuals
- Highly responsible and determined
- Ability to complete difficult tasks quickly
- Natural leadership qualities
- Honest, straightforward, yet compassionate
- Often successful in business, administration, medicine, engineering, law, politics, and technical fields
- Strong attraction and sensitivity toward the opposite gender
Astrological Combinations that Cancel Manglik Yog
1️⃣ The lord of the house occupied by Mars is strong or aspects the same house.
2️⃣ Mars is in Venus’s sign and the 7th lord is strong in a Kendra or Trikona.
3️⃣ Jupiter or Venus is strong in the 7th house while Mars is weak or debilitated.
4️⃣ Certain sign–house placements make Mars benefic.
5️⃣ Mars is in its own sign, exalted, or in Moolatrikona.
In such conditions, the yog becomes negligible or ineffective.
Remedies for Manglik Yog (Brief)
- Donate red items: red cloth, lentils, copper, gold, red bull, etc.
- Chant the mantra: “Om Angarakaya Vidmahe Shaktihastaya Dhimahi Tanno Bhaumah Prachodayat.”
- Observe fast on Tuesdays; feed the poor.
- Offer red garments to the mother on Tuesdays.
- Control anger and consume red-colored foods (like masoor dal, imarti).
- Perform Peepal marriage, Kumbh marriage, or worship Hanuman/ Kartikeya.
- Chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra; use Mangal Yantra only in special cases.
Conclusion:
A Manglik–Manglik marriage is most favorable. If not feasible, proper remedies, rituals, and astrological alignment analysis can significantly reduce the yog’s impact.
